Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), India’s largest shipbuilding and maintenance facility and the only yard in the country capable of constructing aircraft carriers, has officially implemented Cadmatic software to support its latest newbuild program – a world-first project involving hydrogen-powered feeder container vessels for Samskip

The agreement, signed in November 2025, follows more than two years of close collaboration, evaluation, and proof-of-concept work between CSL and Cadmatic.

In this strategic move, Cochin has deployed CADMATIC Hull and Outfitting, along with training and maintenance services. The tools will support both the Samskip project and future shipbuilding programs as the shipyard moves toward a more model-based, digitally enabled process.

India is rapidly expanding its shipbuilding and maritime infrastructure, positioning itself as a key player in the global industry. With this adoption, Cochin Shipyard is taking a major step toward future-ready, digitally driven ship design.

Cadmatic’s software will enable CSL to improve clash detection, accelerate the generation of production drawings, and streamline coordination between disciplines – all essential in delivering technically complex, zero-emission vessels.

“We’re proud to support Cochin Shipyard on such a high-impact, forward-looking project,” says Roshansingh Navlur, Vice President, Regional Business Center, India & SEA at Cadmatic. “This order is a strong validation of our expertise in hull and outfitting design, especially for advanced, green vessels. It places Cadmatic at the heart of sustainable shipbuilding in India and beyond.”

The Samskip hydrogen-powered feeder ships are expected to cut approximately 25,000 tons of CO₂ per vessel each year in zero-emission mode, making them a flagship example of green shipping innovation.
